The aim of the project, Operation Steadfast, is to sponsor the teachers who work in the Jewels Model Preparatory School.

A teacher in the school currently earns about £30 a month, with the Head teacher on £50 a month. Jobs are difficult to come by in Sierra Leone so the project looks to support this important workforce in this deprived community. It also recognises the importance of teachers in educating a generation of children to give them a better future and a way out of their poverty. In addition the project will release money that would normally go to paying wages, to go into building projects, for the school and the local church.

The project needs to raise a minimum of £250 a month so it is looking for 25 people to sponsor £10 a month for example.

Any additional funding raised by Operation Steadfast would go into a training budget to help support an annual trip to Sierra Leone to offer training, support and encouragement to the teachers where needed.
